Get to know Faltermeier Markus from AVL-SFR

I am HW developer in the BMS team. I have 21 years’ experience in developing control units especially in automotive area. And I work for AVL since 2013.

Beside the HW development of control units (requirements engineering, schematic design, reviews etc.) I am also responsible for safety analysis methods (FMEDA and FMEA) according ISO26262

For INNO BMS I am the project manager for AVL – SFR. And I am responsible for the design and testing of the wireless CMB

What was your original motivation to become a researcher/project manager?
My motivation is to develop a new BMS platform which is capable for the future and to implement new technologies (e.g. future sensors, wireless communication, implementation of latest AFE chipsets).

What is your (main) research area today?
Development of future BMS systems for different applications.

What is the main focus of your team in InnoBMS?
We are focusing on developing the wireless CMB which includes:

  • Security Requirements
  • Architectural Design
  • Schematic design
  • Layout design
  • Testing of the wireless communication from the CMB to the SBMS

Could you describe your favourite moment/satisfaction when working for the project and – more in general – for your organisation?
We are developing a new technology (wireless CMB)

  • Latest AFE Chipset technology
  • Capable for EIS measurements

How do you expect InnoBMS results will affect your organisation and the battery sector?
The new wireless CMB which we are developing for INNO BMS will replace our existing CMB.
For this the wCMB will become our new platform for our BMS systems.
For this the CMB development for future projects will be more efficient. Development time will be faster as the new CMB – platform can be used and all data (architecture, schematic and layout) are available and can be reused.
